Welcome
to the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) section of IBWeb. TOK is a unique IB interdisciplinary course with the purpose
of stimulating students to critical reflection upon the knowledge and experience gained
inside and outside the classroom. The course challenges students to explore the bases of knowledge, to be aware of subjective and ideological biases, and to
discover a mode of thought based on analysis of evidence expressed in rational
arguments.
What
Do We Do In Theory of Knowledge?
In
this course, we uncover the basic ways in which we gain knowledge about the
world and we examine the status of these “ways of knowing.”
We
examine the basic assumptions, compare, and contrast knowledge claims across
various subject areas, such as history, mathematics science and art.
We
try to understand the nature of knowledge itself by examining the aspects of
belief opinion and faith.
