School History

Being one of the the oldest schools in Ontario, Weston is ten years older than Canada.  Weston's proud tradition of academic excellence began when the Weston County Grammar School first opened its doors to students in 1857.  In 1922, it would become Weston High School until 1938  when it lengthened its name and broadened its curriculum to become Weston Collegiate & Vocational school.

Since 1927, the school yearbook has been known as "The Conning Tower".  A look at past editions reveal some interesting facts about the school. For example in 1961 Weston had a girl's rifle team.  Elwy Yost, who for a quarter of a century hosted TVO's Saturday Night at the Movies graduated from Weston in 1943.    A total of 64 Weston students valiantly gave their lives in both World Wars.   1992, Weston began offering the IB program which has since won international acclaim and recognition.
